It All Started with a Date Night and a Game of Pool.
On
December 9, 2023, we were just two people—Kim and Orlando—trying to unwind after work with a casual night out. We picked a local spot, the Bearded Monkey, hoping for dinner, a drink, and maybe a game of pool. But fate had other plans. There was a tournament going on that night, and while I ended up dozing off in the car, Orlando found himself drawn in—first as a spectator, then as a participant.
By the end of the night, something had changed.
That impromptu tournament wasn’t just a one-off experience. It sparked something in Orlando—a deeper connection to a sport he’d grown up playing with his dad. It didn’t take long that he was invited to join the Tri County Texas APA League, and from there, he immersed himself in a vibrant, welcoming billiards community.
What began as a casual date night transformed into the start of a new journey—one that would eventually lead to Cued Billiards.
Orlando had always dreamed of building something of his own—something meaningful, fun, and lasting. A place that not only reflected his passion but could one day become a legacy for our kids. I may not have been a pool shark like Orlando, but I grew up with our family pool table and maybe did a dance once or twice around it…. Or on top of it. In our own way, we were both raised around the spirit of the game.
One phone call and a booked flight to the Super Billiards Expo led to a meaningful sit-down with the new owners of Meucci Cues—an experience that opened the door to an incredible opportunity for Orlando. It allowed him to grow his knowledge, expand his network, and gain valuable insight into the billiards industry. The connection and mentorship he received during that time is something he holds in the highest regard. Our family is truly grateful for the opportunity and knowledge Meucci Cues extended to him.
Then came the sign we couldn’t ignore—an opportunity to bring something real and needed to life.
When our family moved to Forney, TX, in April 2023, we noticed something missing. If you wanted quality billiards gear, your best option was to shop online or drive nearly 50 miles to the nearest store. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, that could mean spending hours in traffic—just to pick up a cue or replace some chalk. The community deserved better.
So we made the leap. We started Cued Billiards with a clear mission: to make billiards more accessible to the players of Forney and beyond. No more long drives. No more waiting on shipping. Just a local shop, built by players, for players—rooted in passion, family, and the love of the game.
Today, Cued Billiards isn’t just a store. It’s a hub. A place where friendships are made, gear is trusted, and the spirit of competition is alive and well. It’s proof that with a little passion, the right timing, and one unforgettable night at the Bearded Monkey, you can change the course of your life—and maybe even help others along the way.
Thank you for all the love, support, shares, participation, and friendly "Hi"! Our family is truly blessed to have you all. We are just getting started!
